dear scrab

have been hearing a lot about your deteriorating health lately from bro and sis. seems like what i've been fearing most all these years is approaching, although a bit too quickly and unexpectedly. 11 years ago we took you home as a 3-mth puppy, and today you're considered a 'senior' dog of your breed. an aunty who had a shih tzu before said her dog turned blind towards his last few years and became hostile to everyone. i was told that your eye sight is failing, and that you might be suffering from cataract. why didn't the vet say anything about it? thankfully, the blood test showed that your health is good on the whole... if only there was a way to cure your eye problem too. i can't imagine how life is not being able to see - bro said you banged on the wall yesterday, and again today, but you're learning to sniff the surroundings before taking your steps. i hope your nose is still sensitive as ever, esp. to food!

i miss the scrab that is always so alert when he sees people eating, the scrab that jumps and barks if people refuse to share food with him, the scrab that fidgets when asked to stay still when food is laid before him, the scrab that runs up and down the stairs without difficulty, the scrab that has a smile on his face when people tickle him. you're starting to distance yourself from everyone, but i'm sure deep inside you still want to be the scrab that we have always known.

hang in there at least until i get back ok? it's already so depressing to hear about your health, let alone the day when you really have to leave us :'(
